Uniform and Appearance
Guidelines
We are glad to have the firm support of parents in the requirements of school uniform. It is not only useful as a regulator of behaviour but also of tremendous value in fostering the traditional qualities of community spirit and pride in the school.
All students at Therfield will wear a school blazer. For girls the white open necked, shaped blouse with the Therfield logo on the collar is compulsory (plain white non regulation blouses will not be permitted). Boys wear a plain white shirt and a school tie. The girls can choose from a knee-length, dark grey, skirt, or black school uniform trousers, and the boy’s dark grey trousers. Girls are asked to wear white, grey or black socks or standard colour tights, boys to wear dark socks, and both to wear sensible, low-heeled black leather/leather style shoes (plimsolls are not acceptable). We must stress that trainers are not acceptable for school uniform, but may be needed for P.E. Unless a medical/doctor’s note is produced, students wearing trainers in school may be asked to wear shoes supplied by the school.
The following types of outerwear are acceptable. Plain anoraks, raincoats, overcoats, jackets and school fleece, but not “hoodies” or denim. When students do bring coats to school it is important that they follow the school rules by removing outdoor wear when in the school buildings to avoid having the items confiscated.
Inside the school building you should:
1 Be wearing black school shoes - no 'Ugg' style boots, trainers or plimsolls
2 Be wearing a 'badged' school blazer
3 Have your shirt tucked in fully
4 Have your tie done up smartly
5 Not have any 'sweatshirt' material hoodies in your possession
6 Remove any 'outdoor' wear including coats and scarves
Please expect to be cautioned for unacceptable uniform
Repeat offences will result in non-uniform items being confiscated
