Provision for Talented Students
Students who demonstrate a particular talent for music are provided with personalized learning opportunities as part of the formal curriculum and are nurtured in the development of their higher level musicianship skills through extra-curricular activities. They are encouraged to establish and/or run their own musical groups, act as ‘Learning Experts’ in class, and may be selected to perform in the band for the whole school musical productions.
In addition, the Music department runs a day of activities every year specifically designed to give Therfield’s most talented musicians a challenging, inspirational and enjoyable opportunity to further their skills and knowledge.
Previous years have included workshops in Jazz improvisation, steel drums, African singing and drumming, samba and singing at sight using sol-fa.
