SDP

Dear Parent

We are currently reviewing the School Development Plan (SDP) and identifying our priorities for the coming year.

The school development plan is created through looking at the progress the school has made this year and informed by other factors such as the recent Ofsted report, the results of the Kirkland Rowell school satisfaction survey and local and national educational issues. In an effort to keep the plan to a manageable size some of the items are brief summaries and may not be immediately obvious to those who are not familiar with how schools work. Should you require more information about an item please contact the school.

There is an introduction “School Strategic Planning 2009-12” including a “Key Aims 2009-12” section and 4 diagrams which note the actions we will take in 2009-10. There will be a section on achievement and standards following the publishing of the exam results in July and August.

Staff, students and Governors have contributed to the plan and we recently held two parent focus groups where parents contributed their ideas on some of the key issues such as improving communication with parents, reporting student progress and improving attendance.

I have attached the full draft school development plan for your information and comment. Please email jkelly@lhead.therfield.surrey.sch.uk if you would like more information about the plan.  The final draft will be available at the end of the summer term and, once the achievement and standards section has been included following the exam results in the summer, the new plan will be published at the end of September.

Yours faithfully
Susan Willman
