School News

Following a recent validation visit from the Youth Sports Trust (YST) we are delighted to confirm that we have been awarded Gold YST Partner School status. Therfield School is one of the first schools in the country to receive the award.

By achieving Gold Partner School status Therfield has demonstrated a commitment to maintaining and developing the highest quality outcomes for PE and school sport. It recognises not only the curriculum provision in PE and opportunities for young people to be involved in sport, but also how the work in PE has been used as a catalyst for improving school priorities and engaging with our community. It enables us to continue working with the Youth Sport Trust and a network of other partner schools on new initiatives which aim to develop PE and Sport whilst giving additional opportunities for students.

Director of Specialism, Cath Holmes says ‘This is a fantastic achievement for Therfield School. It reflects the hard work and dedication put in by students and staff on a daily basis and it’s great to gain the recognition for our efforts. The PE & Sport Faculty are immensely proud but thanks must go to all staff across the school who support our extra-curricular programme, our whole school leadership provision and are currently using the  Olympics and Paralympic values as a vehicle to enhance learning opportunities in the run up to London 2012…Well done to you all!’
